|Financial Assistance for Cloudcroft and Tularosa Homeowners
Because of the recent February snow many residents in Tularosa and Cloudcroft New Mexico have to deal with some major clean up and restoration. Now, city and county officials are combining forces to help those in need with repairs to their homes with financial assistance.
The Southeastern New Mexico Economic Development District Council of Government has been allowed to disperse repair funds for several counties, Otero being one of them. They plan on dispersing the funds as needed on a bigger need, has bigger claim basis. There are low income requirements of $37,450 per year and proof of income will be required and have no homeowners insurance during the storm. There are limited funds but these are going out to the most needed in our communities.
Funds officials will be in Tularosa and Cloudcroft 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at the Tularosa Community Center, 1050 Bookout Road, and at the Cloudcroft Village Hall, 201 Burro St., between 2 and 4 p.m. on March 11 to assist with applications as the deadline is March 18. Assistance will be limited to $2,000 per applicant and may be used to hire licensed plumbers or general contractors to repair broken water lines or replace and install furnaces or water heaters damaged or red tagged as a result of the winter storm. If you have already repaired some damage, you still may be eligible for a reimbursement. Applications are also available at the Otero County Administration Building, 1101 New York Ave.
